Christmas Cards

I feel like Im running out of time trying to get everything done!  So I took the kids out of school early on Tuesday to get our Christmas Card photos.  The all actually cooperated and we were done in 45 minutes ( a little Orange Leaf bribe doesnt hurt anyone!)  Anyway, these are a few images from that little session.  These are not the ones going on the Christmas card, but I liked them anyway and will probably use them to update the portraits in my hallway!  Merry Christmas everyone!

The Siebold Family

I love seeing how much my clients change as the years go by.  The first thing I noticed when I met up with this lovely family was how much the kiddos have grown!!  It really is incredible how quickly time passes and how much children change  over weeks, months and years.  It was so great to see you all again.

The Seery Family

The last time I photographed them, they were a family of three.  Since then they have added another darling princess and she is an absolute doll!  Two beautiful girls to fill their days with sunshine and giggles, what could be better!  It was so great to see you all again….so beautiful, so blessed.

Ziah The Victorious

This past weekend I had the honor and privilege of meeting Ziah and his family for a family session.  I meet so many wonderful families doing what I do and each of them touch my world in different ways.  Of course Ziah  and his beautiful family were no exception.  So many of us have followed Ziah’s journey over the past year or so as he has courageously battled cancer.  Going into this session I knew I was going to meet a little boy with strength beyond his years, a family tightly bonded in love and faith…fighters every single one of them.  As we braved the mosquitos and their personalities unfolded in front of me, I saw so much more than the challenges they face and the long road that lies ahead.  They are a gentle, kind and playful family… so full of joy and humor.  The kids joked with me and each other and Ziah insisted on several “silly shots” that I was so excited to capture for them.

While its true that Ziah’s fight continues, they are far from defeated.  The goal is victory and with faith and full hearts they will continue to move forward and push through whatever lies ahead on the path set before them.  If you would like to  help Ziah and his family,  donations can be made at The Quonziah Ford Fund, c/o Tradition Bank, 1515 S. Grand Parkway, Katy, Texas 77494 in addition I know that positive thoughts and prayers are always needed.

You can follow Ziah’s progress through Ziah’s Care Page and keep up with community fundraisers through Ziah’s facebook page

Back To School

Its that time of year again…families are getting ready to start their shopping for school clothes and supplies.  Kids are savoring their last weeks of summer.  Another school year is around the corner.

I think I notice how much my kids have grown around this time every year.  Their jeans are way to short, they’ve outgrown their shoes and they are ready to embark on another milestone school year.

This little doll is no different, she is all set to start her first day of preschool!  Just like my littlest…it seems like yesterday she was making her way home from the hospital so small and so helpless…and in a week or so she will walk herself into her pre-school classroom, holding mommy’s hand and confidently letting go.

Have a great FIRST first day of school sweet girl!

Lazy Day | Katy Custom Photographer

Lazy day…

Shes laying around…tee shirt and jeans, playing with unicorns, and later with Barbies.  She’ll probably round out the day with popscicles and her best friend down the street, riding bicycles up and down the sidewalk.  These are the days baby girl.  Sunshine, playtime and nothing on your to do list except everything and anything your heart desires.  Simple days filled with beautiful memories.

Kids awake- check

Breakfast eaten- check

Morning bike ride- check

Funny to watch the kids get their day started in the morning, when theres nowhere to be and nothing that needs to be done.  Tuesday is our “day off” and the kids are ready to go go go!

Playing Cinderella | Katy Custom Photographer

“She was playing Cinderella
She was riding her first bike
Bouncing on the bed and looking for a pillow fight
Running through the sprinkler with a big popsicle grin
Dancing with her dad, looking up at him”

-Chuck Wicks, Stealing Cinderella

How crazy is it that as I sat here editing these images, this song starts playing on my Itunes random shuffle.  I LOVE that these girls are still “playing Cinderella”, that they are still little and savoring childhood…every last drop of it.  Soak it up girls.  It goes by way to fast.  I hope that in your world it lasts and lasts.  Cherish these carefree days and hold them dear.  May you ALWAYS find time to dance in the sunshine and keep believing that your daddy hung the moon.
